FEDERER HAILS MRRAY

The no. 2 player in the world, Roger Federer, has hailed the performance of Andy Murray in this season. Federer has said that Andy Murray is very close to becoming no. 1 and once he will get there, he will remain there for a while.

The British Superstar, Andy Murray, performed consistently throughout the season, but, his performance in the last couple of events of the season was a little below his standard. In the BNP Paribas Masters, he was defeated in the third round by the Polish player Jerzy Janowicz. Then, in the final event of the season, ATP World tour finals, Murray had to toil hard to make his way into the final four.

In his opening Round Robin match in the World Tour finals, Murray got better of the Czech player, Tomas Berdych, but, in his next match, he was defeated by the current no. 1 player in the world, Novak Djokovic. Because of that it became very difficult for him to qualify for the semis. He had to win his final Round Robin match to continue his campaign in the tournament. The Olympic Gold medalist did that. He defeated Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in his third match of the tournament and managed to qualify for the semis.

In the semi final, he took on the Wimbledon champion Roger Federer who thrashed him in the straight sets and knocked him out of the tournament. Murray finished the season as the no. 3 player in the world.

When Federer was asked about Murray, he said, “I think Murray has been the most consistent player in this season. He has improved his game a lot and he is not too far away from becoming the no. 1 in the world and I am sure, once he reaches there, it will be hard to displace him from there.”
