Murray Praises Kyrgios
Andy Murray used some praising words for Nick Kyrgios on Twitter after the Australian teenager lifted the Nottingham challenge trophy the other day and got an entry to the men’s category main draw of the upcoming Wimbledon Championships.
Kyrgios has taken part in three Grand Slam singles tournaments so far and his performance in all of them has been nothing more than ordinary.
The 19-year old first featured in a Grand Slam singles competition last year at Roland Garros and got knocked out from the second round. He, thereafter, made an appearance at Flushing Meadows too and he had to suffer a defeat in his very first match there.
In the Australian Open of this year, Kyrgios again couldn’t go to the latter stages and was sent packing from the second round. He wasn’t able to qualify for the recently finished French Open.
Kyrgios would be hoping that he at least makes his way to the round of 16 in the Wimbledon this year. Some people would argue that he is only 19 at the moment and thus, expecting him to excel at the Grand Slam level is a bit too much, but, the truth is that Kyrgios is blessed with enormous amount of potential and that’s why, the tennis fans have expectations with him.
Being very impressed with Kyrgios’ skills that he saw in the Nottingham Challenge, Murray wrote on his Twitter page, “So, Nick Kyrgios has one more challenger title under his belt. After winning on clay and hard courts, he has done it now on grass court as well. I can clearly see a superstar in the making.”
“I believe the time is not far away when people would see him featuring on main tour on a regular basis.”
