Andy Murray will Win a Major, says FedEx
New world number one Roger Federer is confident that British player Andy Murray will bounce back from his defeat to him at the final of Wimbledon and added that he at least has one Grand Slam title in him.
Speaking at the post match interview on court, Federer, who was extremely emotional having won his seventh and record equaling Wimbledon title stated that Murray had just been unlucky in his quest for a Grand Slam title.
This was the fourth time that Murray had reached a Grand Slam final and has lost all four of those finals, three of those defeats coming against Federer himself and the other against the former world number one Novak Djokovic.
Ironically, Ivan Lendl, who has been coaching Murray since December 2011 also, lost the first four finals of Grand Slam tournaments that he reached, but he ended up winning the next 8 Grand Slam finals. Lendl has added another dimension to Murray’s game by getting him to watch tennis analysis more often, and learn his opponents strategies better.
And the sole reason that Andy Murray hired Lendl to coach him is because he was hoping that he could count on that experience of Lendl to help him secure that elusive Grand Slam title.
And having come so close to success, the 25 year old Scotsman is confident that the first Grand Slam title is just around the corner, and it is just a matter of holding his nerves to achieve that success. The sport betting back that up, with Muzza odds-on to win a Grand Slam at some point in his career.
With the burden of an entire nation on his back, Murray got off to a flying start against the 17 time Grand Slam champion but Federer showed that title winning requires not only physical attributes, but also mental toughness and that is where Andy Murray has failed.
But Federer did admit that Murray got him thinking after the first set, something that he doesn’t attribute to most of the opponents he faces on court, especially in a Grand Slam final.
